Pioche House Has A New Window

We got the trailer hauled to Pioche, took the long way from Puget Sound to Winnemucca so visit a Gypsy Vanner horse show there. It was a good 500 miles out of our way and we stayed at the show for only an hour or so. I did get to see a few nice looking horses but I was really disappointed that there weren't a whole lot more horses. I thought since it was supposed to be a west coast show that there might be hundreds of them but there were maybe 30.

After leaving Winnemucca we drove along highway 50, The Loneliest Road in America. We stopped in this tiny pull out right before Austin for the night and in the morning it was snowing so we got on the road to get over the pass before any issues could happen.

Here is the trailer in its new location beside our Pioche house.
We DID have one issue on the road, Lan hit a curb and 5 miles later a totally destroyed flat tire. At least 1 other tire was questionable so we bought another spare, having to drive 50 miles out of our way to get it. We ended up not needing it but its there now.

Here is a partial view of our house from the end of the block, as seen through Toms property. The conex box and shed beside it are his.  The blue section of the house will be removed and probably part of it will be rebuilt into the utility and bath rooms. We both want a large back deck too. Lan will need a garage and it will be in the flat tan area on the right. There was previously a building there, probably another 100 year old house.

This was the old window we replaced, it is on the front side of the house facing the trailer. It measures here about 24"x60".

From the inside

We knew we needed to change it a lot, since the kitchen sink is going to be below it. I still wanted it to be high up too.

There were a LOT og nails in that part of the wall.

As soon as we got the window shape all cut out, framed and ready to go, it started to rain. And rain, and rain and rain, HARD. All summer long people talked about needing rain, that the last rain they'd had was 'that day in May'.
There was thunder and lightening and flash floods, but I didn't get to see any of those.

Two days after the rain I did get warnings on my phone.

After the rain and a while to dry out, we installed the window.

I can not wait to see counters in there with a sink below this window.

In the yard we found 5 tulips. If I can still find them now, I'll dig them up and put them into a safer garden area. They're in stops now that they get walked on and mowed over.

There were also a bunch of baby apricot trees so I dug up several and brought them home, 3 of which are still alive.

On the way home we had a serious issue with the old Dodge truck and finished the drive with a 2025 Ford F-350, 4 doors, long bed, diesel pickup.
This truck should hopefully last us until we die and a very long time.
