The downstairs floor is almost finished. This is the dining room.

This is the kitchen

Kitchen again, looking the other way.

The flooring beside the tiles we chose for the front entryway.

And more of the tiles.

The office floor hasn't been finished yet, its got all the extra wood stacked on the floor. There are a couple spots where the T molding has to be inserted and then just the baseboards along the walls. We have a lot that was already used for the old floors but we will also get some new stuff.

I have old fence boards, chewed by horses, that might find their way into the office.

Floor Going In

The flooring is going to be FABULOUS!!

The blue material is an insulating moisture barrier, it also makes walking on the wood quieter. I thought that just mattered if it were upstairs but it makes a huge difference down stairs also.

We need to find the T transitions, Lumber Liquidators charges $10.49 PER FOOT for them, I'm sure they will charge just as much for the foot boards.

So Many Things

Right now there are so many things going on in this house, its dizzying.

Wood flooring
Tile flooring
Kitchen rearranging
New propane stove
New butcher block island top
New wall

The wood floor has been started but is at a stand still while we wait for the wall to be completed. David, our contractor, has been finishing the wall I built so it will look nice, not like a wall I built.
But David has a full time job and he fits us in as he can and we appreciate that a lot. Today he will spray texture onto the wall and tomorrow we can continue with the flooring.

The tiles are beautiful but we haven't gotten the subfloor finished yet, so no tiles have been installed. No hurries.

All the kitchen flooring was removed and a new 1/4 plywood laid down to make it the same height as the dining room floor. We have to put the kitchen floor in around the island and also the cupboards. I've had a propane stove waiting to go in so we took out the old double ovens and moved a small cupboard over beside the continuous wall countertop. The stove now sits beside that and there is a pantry  & then the fridge. I'd really like to move the fridge and pantry to the opposite wall so we'll be working on that later.

For around the stove I'd like new butcher block counter tops on either side of it and the island is for sure getting butcher block. The wall behind the stove, which was previously behind the tall double ovens, needs some work. I had painted a red color on the walls just to the edge of the ovens, now I need to fill  in some holes and paint again.

I've moved the microwave that used to sit on a shelf on that wall.  We've has the coffee pot under here.

All of these photos are of the old house, before we did all the work.

After we get the floor done we'll install the butcher block, then a fan above the stove. I want it to have an awesome top so that when you look into the kitchen its dramatic, not drab.
This is the wall we took out, about 6 feet total. Its got about 2 feet we can't see from here, so we removed an L shape and the new wall starts about at the left of this mirror. The heater is gone, as is the parquet and carpet.

Everything is a jumble right now!

This is one box of wood.
We can see that its going to be beautiful.

Here is the rest of it, acclimating to our home. It will sit here for a week or so, then we should be installing it. We do still have a little work to finish up before we start laying this though.
