A Room For A Boy

We finished this room for Soren to use, it's got some toys, his bed & in the drawers there are all new clothes for him. 

I'm going to take down the blinds & put up curtains that are easier to use.

The closet needs dowels that are kid level 

The floor is waterproof so he won't have to worry about spills

We have installed a small fan light in the ceiling and the door is a barn door slider

Quartz Is Coming

Today the quartz countertops were paid for. 

I absolutely LOVE this sink but have chosen a new undermount sink. We will use this same faucet as what is currently pictured.

We are not removing this wall or cabinet.

I am going to put tile on the walls, was thinking subway tiles since they are the easiest to find. I'll cover that phone outlet.

The quartz will go all the way over where this temporary piece of wood top is sitting.

They will make us another piece the same size as this piece of wood that I can use on the other side of the stove to even things out.

We had planned on getting about 56 SF in quarts or granite and go with butcherblock for the island but the butcher block isn't happening fast enough.

I have the wall mount metal cook fan that needs to be mounted above the stove.

The new top will look similar to this only browner.

We're also having them do the bathroom countertop and a new sink in there.

 I purchased a new faucet for the bathroom and it might as well have a new countertop too. The installer is bringing a new sink for in there also.

AirBnB Results

After having our one & only guest from AirBnB, I have taken out room off the internet. Liz was a fine guest, she got here when she said she would, she was clean and tidy, quiet.
But she also drank 3 FULL glasses of my wine.

When we have a glass its half - 3/4 full, not 3 and her 3rd was full to the BRIM. She had to lean forward to keep from spilling it as she slurped the beginning of it.

She was talking about needing a place to stay for the next month, twice weekly. Since I'm only getting about $30, I'm way in the hole already, don't need a alcoholic here too.

Cowboy Curtains

I sewed curtains for the guest room, maybe should have measured BOTH windows first. The others are plenty long enough but this one is a titch short. I will leave them, I think they're going to work OK.

New bed skirt and sheets on the bed. Blankets & comforter in the laundry.

There needs to be a bedside table, this milking stool is too short. They certainly can't read with the light below the level of the bed.

That was fast!

Less than 18 hours after I placed our home on AirBnB we have the room booked. When its all said & done, after everyone else takes their cut, I stand to get about $30. So today I went and bought new sheets, pillows, fabric for curtains, shower curtains, alarm clock, lamp, etc. Spent $185.28. The good news is that I received a coupon to save 80% off custom framing & I have a painting to frame.

The shower curtain I purchased looks like this... NOT western, rustic, shabby chic or anything, just totally beach. The walls in the upstairs bathroom are light greenish and there is already a water color painting of a beach scene so this works well. I'll take the turquoise towels up for our guest. 

I also purchased shampoos, soaps, deodorant, tampons, all sorts of necessary items in individual packaging in case our guest needs anything.

Air B & B

We have placed our spare room on Air B & B

Asking $41 per night

Horses $10 extra per horse

I need to do some more decorating but this is the beginning

And I hope we get a guest or two

As you can see, there are no curtains, the lamp sucks, barely any art work. The closet is on the right and I have stuff inside it but if we were to get a guest I'd have to remove all of it & shove it in the other spare room.

This might be fun.

Third Bedroom Up & Running

There are no curtains yet on either window but I did wash them, gave them a horse and spurs. 

The table top headboard works great, if I do say so myself. Can you see Buckin' Brown back in the corner? He is to help prevent banged heads on the slanted ceiling. I'm going to find some awesome curtains for this room.

Yes, this is the book I'm currently reading. I love westerns, they make me laugh.

Much better than  cheap romances.

overall, the room just looks OK. If I had a guest come over they would say, nice bed but not THIS IS THE COOLEST ROOM I've EVER STAYED IT!
