Quartz Has Arrived

Old island top. It was temporary for about 2.5 years.

New quartz. Turned out beautiful.

We used the same faucet 

and it works much better with this sink than it did with the old one.

We got the matching quartz in the bathroom & I picked up this faucet for $25.

Great improvement.

Taking Bids

We're taking bids on hardwood flooring for the whole down stairs. Right now the parquet and carpet just aren't doing it for me any longer and I want something beautiful to live with for a good long time, before we move. I DO NOT want to fix up a house just to sell it again.

 

This is the old location of the kitchen, as you can see there is a new one down there.

 

From the kitchen to the front door. It will look a lot different when the floor is new and that wall down there is removed. There will probably be tile inside the front door.

 

This closet will remain, it has a load bearing wall.

 

Getting the stairs done could cost as much as doing all of the entire down stairs.

 

The office area. Tight behind that saddle is a wood burning fireplace, I want tile in front of it.

More Bathroom

When we moved in I wasn't thrilled with the down stairs bathroom, it was all white. I painted a couple walls and the ceiling silver and a couple walls turquoise. Last week I removed the white Bi-Fold doors that hid the washer and dryer.

 

The window came with this dainty little lace curtain,

just asking to turn dusty brown over time and SO not my style.

 

 

There isn't anything outside besides side yard so it wasn't important that I impress anyone outside.

 

I've had plans to do this for a long time

 

This was my inspiration, found on Pinterest. I LOVE Pinterest.

 

 

I'm going to do it in the living room either on the small window or one of the bigger ones in the dining room or old kitchen window. I have a lot more burlap.

 

Family Name Sign

I made this sign today for our dining room

 

Started out with a stencil

 

 

Pressed it into the old, half rotten fence board, by hand

 

Then I painted the letters

 

It wasn't difficult but it wasn't easy either. The wood kept coming off on the cheap brush

 

It looked OK with just the outlines painted but I thought it might be nicer with whole letters painted

 

Lan saw it at this time; he smiled

 

Up close it looks pretty good 

 

After I got all the letters finished I added the hooks

and painted them HAMMERED by Rustoleum

 

These are the hooks I will use to hang from the ceiling

Bathroom Towel Bar

 

Today this really cute towel bar came from Stateline Tack.

Its a pretty antiquey silvery color right now and would look great in the bathroom. But I'm using the Rustoleum Hammered Brown color in there as an accent color so I'm going to paint the towel bar.

 

Here are the star and mirrors that I've already painted, with the silver turquoise walls.

Mirrors for the downstairs bathroom

I bought these two matching mirrors last week for $20, knew they might look good in the bathroom.

I liked the frame but not its color.

 

And I got this blue star from a friend but wanted it brown.

I used Rustoleums 'HAMMERED BROWN' paint on them and I think they turned out pretty good. 

 

There is still a ton of work to do in the bathroom but I am slowly getting it at least started. Before I hang these I need to put another coat of Silver Charm paint on the walls and ceiling.

Downstairs Bathroom, May

I found this photo on Pinterest a few months ago and fell in love with this bathroom.

Its so pretty and perfect. Ok, maybe not the leopard print shower curtain but I love the wall with the wood trim, tin and rustic look to it.

 I spent a lot of time, energy and money finding just the right turquoise color paint for my bathroom, I had 3 sample colors before I chose PEACOCK FEATHER.

And the color is the middle is the SILVER CHARM I used on the dining room wall that I love. Turquoise + Silver, always a good match.

 

It looks bluer in this photo than it is.

(Don't mind the wetsuit, I soaked it in the tub before I swim in it for the first time this season tomorrow, helps to get it loosened up so its not strangling me when I get it on.)

 

The photo below is truer to the right color.

I've got the corogated tin in the barn and I'll use old fence boards for the trim.

 

And the wetsuit is going to become a regular thing in there. I'm putting that dowel across the top of the shower so I can clean it off & leave it hanging in there.

Downstairs Bathroom

This is the down stairs bathroom.

 

Its ALL stark white.

 

 

 

OK, its got the fake wood look on the doors of the vanity and the bubbly shower surround.

 

I have BIG plans for this room.

 

I've already painted the closet that the laundry goes in.

 

The washer and dryer are now installed but I can only use the dryer because the water supply is still full of sand.

 

This board is going to be used in the bathroom. I'm going to put it up on the wall in front of the shower and hang the shower curtain behind it. I don't need a shower curtain but I have a cowboy one that I've used for the last 20 years that needs to live here too.

 

 

This old western stirrup is going to become a towel holder.

 

This shower surround SUCKS and I don't know what to do with it for sure yet but its got to go.

 

And the wall on the left is now turquoise. I painted it GEM TURQUOISE by Behr but its not dark enough so I also bought PEACOCK FEATHER and I will give it a coat.
